The purpose of Borehole Imaging Special Interest Group (BHI SIG) is to provide a forum for those interested in borehole imaging to conduct technical discussions concerning tool design, data acquisition and delivery, applications, interpretation, and to develop/promote industry standards.
At the SPWLA 2023 Fall Topical Conference, Tegwyn Perkins and Peter Barrett presented the conclusions of Borehole Imaging SIG’s investigation into “A Standardized Format for Dip Data Exchange”. We are now happy to share this presentation with SPWLA and the Borehole Imaging SIG’s membership. The presentation can be downloaded from SPWLA Dip Data Exchange Format – FINAL.
The document references two external files (which are downloadable from the document). The first is the Borehole Image dataset used as the example. It is from the Utah Forge data repository. The second is an example LAS3.0 file containing dips made on the Utah Forge Borehole Image. The LAS3.0 file can be downloaded from SPWLA Dip Data Exchange Format -MU-ESW1 Run#2.las
4th SPWLA Borehole Imaging SIG Workshop: “Geomechanical Applications of Image Logs”.
The SPWLA Borehole Imaging SIG is currently planning its fourth online workshop. As our last event was held at a time more convenient for Europe, Middle East and Asia/Australasia attendees, this one will begin at 8am Central Time.
Date: Tuesday 15th October
Time: 8am Central Time (i.e. 8am Houston time)
Program:
8:00am Welcome
8:05am: Geological and stress field analysis from WL and LWD borehole image logs, an example from a geothermal reservoir by Carsten Vahle; Eriksfiord
8:35am: Integrated approach for the analysis of borehole stability by Nicola Levi & Mario Habermüller; NiMBUC Geoscience
9:05am: Potential effects of bounding layers on stability of lateral boreholes by David Martinez; Independent consulting, TaurRocks Engineering and Science LLC
9:35am: Tectonic boundary-condition Insights from borehole breakouts by Javier Franquet, Baker Hughes
Three of the four talks (the last three) from the 4th SPWLA BHI SIG Workshop “Geomechanical Applications of Borehole Image Logs” have been uploaded to the SPWLA International YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/eZR7i382
