The continuous guidance tool provides a continuous gyroscopic directional measurement in [[cased hole|cased holes]]. The measurement is based on a two-axis gyroscope whose spin axis is maintained horizontal and is aligned towards the north The position of the gyro is sensed by an acceleronmeter and a gyro-axis positional resolver. This information is combined with data from another accelerometer to derive the [[azimuth]] and inclination of the hole. See also [[directional survey]].
