Refers to a [[well log]] produced by any well-logging device in which [[survey]]-current flow is focused or otherwise controlled. Examples of focused logs are: [[laterolog]], [[guard log]], [[microlaterolog]], [[induction log]], and [[spherically focused log]]. There are two main purposes for focusing survey current of resistivity-measuring devices:\\ (1) To increase vertical resolution of the logging tool; i.e., improve its capability to resolve thin [[bed|beds]]. That reduces the influence of adjacent beds on the measurements.\\ (2) To reduce the influences of borehole and [[mud cake]] in the presence of saline drilling [[mud]].
