(1) An oil that has undergone a lowering of pressure such that there is no longer any gas in solution. Compare live oil.
(2) A residual oil measured at 60°F and 14.7 psia after all gas has been removed by differential liberation at reservoir temperature.
(3) A viscous oil, asphalt. or tar which has undergone a lowering of pressure so that the gases and lighter oil fractions have come out of solution and expanded. Leaving the heavier hydrocarbon fractions behind.
