terms:floating_pad
A term used to refer to the pad of any contact logging tool that does not make sufficiently good contact with the formation wall to record quality information. For example, dipmeter pads in oval shaped holes and microlaterolog pads in slant holes where the weight of the tool might pull the pad away from the borehole wall.
